About Friskis&Svettis Uppsala
From the very start in 1985 Friskis&Svettis Uppsala has been growing ever larger and becoming ever more fun. Today we are Uppsala’s largest sports association, offering the broadest array of workout forms among all providers. Our operations are run by not-for-profit forces and funded by membership dues, entirely free from any profit interest.
At Friskis&Svettis Uppsala we want everyone to feel welcome,
regardless of what your workout ambitions are! Our operational
mission is to provide enjoyable and readily accessible exercise of
high quality for all.
At year-end 2015/16, we had 28 000 members. That actually
corresponds to more than 13,5 % of Uppsala's inhabitants. The
youngest are under the age of 10, the oldest over 90, and most are
between 20 and 40 years old.
We have 340 volunteer functionaries and 45 employees who live and
breathe for the Friskis&Svettis vision that we Uppsala
residents should enjoy exercising. And it's working. In recent
years Friskis&Svettis has had Sweden's most satisfied
exercisers according to Swedish Quality Registries.
Today we offer Uppsala's broadest range of workout options. You
can choose among more than 30 fun forms of exercise and have access
to three spacious and spotless facilities: Ekeby, Väderkvarn, and
Ultuna. All three have fully equipped gyms and group workout rooms.
During the regular season we offer some 260 group exercise sessions
We're good listeners! No matter what's on your mind, you can tell
us or ask us at the office. As a member you're also cordially
welcome to attend the annual meeting, where all important decisions
are discussed and taken.
We belong to a huge family of exercisers. Under the umbrella
organization Friskis&Svettis Riks, there are a total of 159
associations and 535 000 members all over the country. Each
Friskis&Svettis association is an economic unit that is
responsible for its own activities and finances. As a member of
Friskis&Svettis Uppsala, you have the opportunity to exercise
at another Friskis&Svettis association for only 50 kr per
